Why charmed is better than buffy
Buffy is more like a refined scotch that gets better with time and feels different everytime you taste a new sip. Most people prefer beer to scotch because it is simpler and easier to enjoy without putting too much thinking into it. That is why I think most people find it easier to like Charmed than Buffy. S Spanky Exactly. That's exactly why Charmed is more popular than Buffy. Anyanka Bunny Slayer Hail Hydra. Spanky said:. One of those risks was to bring in half-sister Paige when Shannen Doherty left the show at the end of Season 3.

Charmed, is the only TV show having publicity photos of women showing off their breasts, and at the same time pressing their breasts into each other. It is more or less telling, even that they are sisters, there is a feeling of sister incest with each other.
Strange, the fans have not brought into sister incest. Faith Woman verses Woman. Joined Sep 19, Messages Location America. Taake said:. Also, pressning their breasts against each other? Pretty sure you watched a dirty parody of the show. There is not really any incest to read into The actresses showed cleavage, yes, and a lot of midriff, but you make it sound as if they walked around topless. Octavia I see what you see.
Rose is a little too sexual in the photo provided. Isnt it the story that counts? Obviously not. Part of being that meant that she had to be able to cope on her own. Buffy shows how you need to learn to cope on your own, where as Charmed unrealistically shows that all the important people will always be there for you no matter what and everything will work out. Personally, I fell out of love with Charmed when they introduced Paige.
It was The Power of Three, then Shannon fell out with Alyssa and chose to leave so the wrote Paige in to keep the show alive. Unplanned and annoying, it ruined the show for me.
Pru died due to problems off set and you seem to forget the grieving Buffy and Dawn went through when Joyce died. Death is not real to them. So was Buffy until Joyce died and then she had to get a job. The show portrayed their growth from children into adults. Xander goes through all sorts of crap jobs before finding what suits him.
Anya ends up running the Magic box for a while, but does go back into vengence. I only just have. As for "Sunnydale is nothing but a painted backdrop", I could say the same for Charmed. All we see on that show are the good guys, the bad guys and the locations where they fight. Hardly any new characters are introduced for longer than an episode. How stale is that?
Ooo, innocent, ooo, demon, ooo, vanquish. Everyone is happy. Everything always works out. Not very realistic is it. And kinda boring every week. Good vs Evil all the bloody time.
Yes, Spike is neither a the good guy or the bad guy and the same goes for Buffy. The are only shades of grey. Do morals only mean good and evil? That sounds familiar. What was your point? If Buffy only knows how to tell one story, the same can be said for charmed. Sorry, but innocent, demon, vanquish, blah, blah, blah. As I have said. Oh, Piper is having a kid, sure, but do you think a similar plot would work on Buffy? I think :? In conclusion, Buffy is far better than Charmed. With far more wit, humour and story than charmed.
You say that in "Centennial Charmed," the three Charmed Ones reunite in the alternate universe and triumph over evil. How unusual for them, triumphing over evil again, eh. Black and white.
No shades of grey. How is it meaningless? If she had never come to Sunnydale she wouldnt have been the same girl. She didnt trust him. I love both shows. I fell in love with Buffy in the first season and Charmed when it first came out. The difference is in my opinion that Buffy is more excitement, more thrilling. Charmed in a way can be boring.
But its in the way you look at it. Charmed is more Each show is fantasmic in its own way. THey seem to have a purpose. Like in one ep. In the next season, piper and leo separate. ANother cool allegory was introducing Chris.
At first I thought he was bad guy, but he kept sending mixed signals. Quite possible in real life. Buffy in my opinion does not have allegories like this. It is not consistent. The first seasons were awesome. But around the 4th season It seemed Joss was more interested in bringing back dead characters into the season and playing off that Spike, Drusilla, Jonathan.
Ethical quandaries! Example: they ran into vampires who supplied drugs to addicts who willingly traded their blood… and admitted there were more ethical targets to Slay. A fun and funny evil lawyer who managed to have depth and love, too. Rose McGowan added instead of subtracted from the show.
And sometimes in really lame ways. Like Ben. Poor Ben. My magic is getting in the way of my job! The Scoobies actually know what's important; saving lives, saving the world and sometimes just stopping demons on the internet 'randomizing traffic signals'. Plus, they were in High School which does limit your contact with the outside world for as a teenager you don't really care too much about the outside world and High School is a nice social bubble you live in.
After that they went to college which is another bubble and then what? This guy expects them to start owning clubs and writing for newspapers? They are in their early twenties. Most of the supernatural metaphors in Buffy in season 6 were showing how much they didn't know what to do with their lives yet. That's the whole point. And I'd rather watch Buffy and co get totally involved in their supernatural lives as Willow said, it's what she wants to do for a living.
The Charmed Ones' job is to protect the innocent while Buffy's is essentially to punish the guilty. She isn't given specific people to protect as she hunts demons and saves the world over and over again. She is trying to get as few people as possible involved because it might endanger them. That was a theme that was set up in Welcome to the Hellmouth for god's sake. Plus, most of the Innocents on Charmed were very annoying. Most of the time relationships do end badly and the majority of the time it's only a little bit later on in life that you find a successful happy relationship.
I think this writer is forgetting that the Buffy cast were in their teens and then just their early twenties- never older than this is a time when most go through several relationships before even contemplating commiting.
That's life, that's reality. Plus, I agree with Joss. We may hate when Buffy and Angel broke up or when Oz left or Joss gives the audience what we need, not what we want.
And we are better for it. The rest of the 'points' written here caused to me to guffaw, completely flabbergasted in the style of Dick Solomon.
I couldn't believe it. This is the most unbelievable piece of rubbish I've read in a long time. The storylines of the Big Bad are always repeated in Buffy? How Three excellent questions.
And then this finale continues to the season two Premiere. She kills the love of her life, sending him to hell to stop Acathla from opening. Every student in her class unite to kill the demonic mayor and she blows up the school to do so 4. Combined all four essences of the Scoobies to fight Frankstein's Monster, the new and improved version. A God tries to bleed Buffy's sister another original storyline , Giles smothers the human form of Glory coldly and Buffy kills herself to save her sister 6.
From the loss of the love of her life, Willow regresses into her addiction to the magics and tries to end the world and is saved by the love of her friend Xander. Big vampire fight against the First Evil and every Potential is made a Slayer.
How the HELL are they repetitive?!! How can it be a pointless fight?? It was entirely pointy. It was showing the horrors of this brave new world. The intercuts to Giles and Anyanka were showing that the day was going to be saved, if not by the Buffy of this world, because the Buffy of the Wishverse was not equipped to do so.
And the haunting music and the slow-motion of the fight make it a very poignent and moving scene. This guy annoyed me. A lot. A lot stronger word than annoyed.
He's on my list The Chosen i hated how they complained, too, about their lives. Joined Mar 29, Messages 2, Age I didn't even bother reading that properly. Charmed better than Buffy? I used to like it, but then as I got further and further into it, it got boring. I mean, c'mon, Charmed is a show I watched when it first came out. How old was I then? I was three. I don't get how people think it's better than Buffy.
Charmed is childish. I'm not insulting anyone who likes Charmed, just those who think it's better than Buffy, and to be honest, for someone to spend so long writing that, seemingly just to insult Buffy fans TC: I agree with every one of your points except one. There is actually a moral compass in Buffy. It's called eudaimonism: "the basis of moral goodness is the fulfilment of human nature to it's highest potential. Disgusting, Murderous Bitch! James South. Chicago: Open Court, The Chosen oh!
Tueuse de Vampires Love will tear us apart.. In the beginning of the series, it was established that a Slayer like Buffy has a Watcher - a whole Council of Watchers, actually - to help her in her fight against evil.
But is this realistic? In Season 6, Giles simply decided to leave, and instead of sending a replacement the Council apparently thought it best to let Buffy bumble around on her own until her incompetence brought the world to the brink of destruction.
