A simple and a creative typography poster you can use to share a quote in a coffee shop or craft a unique social media post. This template is free to download and use with your personal projects. Move the current text object aside, copy the first line, create a new textarea and paste the copied words in. The image below illustrates every step I took in processing this part of the design.
To make the letters appear even bolder, add a black 4pt stroke and increase the tracking to match. With the stroke still applied, you might want to adjust some vertices now in case some areas are overlapping in an unintended way. I shortend the inner part of the rounded E in this example. I worked on the letters UT in this line of text by drawing a line over the letter T , then dividing the shape and moving the upper right part onto the letter the U. Enabling the Snap To Point option and holding shift while drawing the lines will help you a lot in achieving the best results.
This kind of manipulation a simple yet effective way to add personality to your typographic designs. Flipping certain letters is another popular technique you might want to try out.
Go on with the next lines of your quote following the same principles as above. Look at the respective words and characters and think of ways to add an individual note and a unique look to the layout.
You can see the changes I made in the image above. The first two letters of the second line were combined in an interesting way for example. The last three letters in that same line got tweaked as well.
Open the Transform window and set the width of each grouped line the same value mm in my case. Make sure the little symbol for constraining proportions is activated.
Now move the groups in place and adjust their alignments and spacing to your taste. The typographic part of our layout is finished. So, switch over to Photoshop and open a new document.
If you intend to actually print your poster, you should talk to your printing office and ask them for the proper dimensions, margins, bleeds etc. Before I go on, let me quickly describe my approach towards coloring in this tutorial. Later, this will enable me to view the design in all sorts of colors by experimenting with the value of just one setting. Select any color you like, I choose 5a91b1. Typography is my drug!
